Frequently Asked Questions

What is microblading?

Microblading, also referred to as semi-permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing, is the process of implanting colour pigment in the upper layers of skin by means of tiny, sterile needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes. This is a semi-permanent option, lasting anywhere from 8 months – 2 years.

Can I get microblading if I'm pregnant?

Your well being is important to us, so as a precaution, we do not offer microblading while pregnant or nursing.

How should I prepare before my microblading appointment?

If you have an ideal shape in mind, bring a few reference photos with you and fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so we can take into consideration your desired shape.

Additionally:

  • If you are planning a vacation, it is recommended that your appointment is a minimum of 14 days before travel to allow for healing.
  • We ask and require that you avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to your appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen.
  • If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure.
  • It is highly recommended that you avoid SUN and TANNING BED exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. The exfoliation that occurs from a sunburn will pull the pigment out, making the procedure much less effective.
How will my brows look after my appointment & during healing?

Your brows will appear darker and more intense than expected for the first few days. As they heal, they will gradually lighten. Flaking is normal, don’t panic! Redness and swelling is minimal, and aftercare information will be provided at your appointment.

What is the after care for microblading?

How you care for the procedure area over the next 7-10 days will largely determine the final appearance and longevity of your microblading.

The healing period discussed below is 7-10 days typically, although it will take 30 days for the procedure area to have fully healed.

Please follow these instructions carefully for the best results:

  • During healing, please apply the recommended aftercare balm to the procedure area 2-3 times a day.
  • Always apply aftercare with clean hands. Never let the procedure area feel tight or completely dry.
  • Flaking and crusting may occur as the skin heals. Picking or peeling at the procedure area may cause loss of pigment and scarring.
  • Please avoid using makeup on or around the procedure area during the healing process. If makeup touches the procedure area it can increase the risk of an infection
  • Do not wet your brows for 3-5 days and avoid showering for the first 12-24 hours.
  • Pools, saunas, hot yoga, tanning, excess sweating and facial procedures should be avoided during the healing period. Botox should be avoided for 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks following your appointment
  • Skin creams and products containing Retin-A, AHA or any kind of skin peel should not be used prior to or post procedure, as they will fade and possibly distort the procedure area.
  • After healing, applying sun block is recommended to protect your semi-permanent makeup from fading or discolouring. (SPF 50 is recommended).
  • The pigment is expected to be darker for the first 3-5 days after your appointment. Don’t panic…they will lighten and change every day during the healing period.
  • Within 1-2 weeks, 40-60% of the pigment will slowly reappear at a lighter shade as your skin regenerates.
  • After the procedure area heals, a touch-up appointment will be needed; the process is not considered complete without it! Your touch-up appointment should be booked 4-6 weeks after your initial appointment and is booked before leaving.

Micropigmentation

Micropigmentation (also known as cosmetic tattooing) is a state-of-the-art method of depositing mineral pigments into the dermis layer of the skin using a digitally controlled machine and specialized needles. The micropigmentation machine, needles, and pigment are purpose-built to create a more permanent effect, but are very different from traditional tattooing.

The way we apply the micropigmentation procedure is not like traditional cosmetic tattooing. We do not create dark, thick, blocky brows. Our micropigmentation specialists are able to create a natural, feathered look using our precise, digitally-controlled machine.

Micropigmentation can be effectively used if a client’s brows do not retain the pigment from microblading. It creates a more permanent effect than microblading, for clients who want less maintenance. Micropigmentation is safe and works extremely well for clients who have suffered hair loss due to illness or other reasons. It can be used for brows, eyeliner, lips, areolas, and on the scalp!
